One of my favorite summer weekend activities is heading out to East Hampton to spend the weekends with my family at the beach.  The area out there is one of my favorite places to spend my free time and I personally don't think there's a better way to spend a summer day than at the beach.  Today I'm sharing some of my weekend travel essentials when we head out East for the weekend.

1. First things first, you need great bathing suits & an equally fabulous cover up!  I loved shopping for bathing suits/cover ups at Victoria's Secret and was devastated to hear that they were discontinuing their swimwear line. The silver lining is TONS of items on sale right now! I decided to stock up on swimsuits before it was too late.  I purchased two suits that will never go out of style: a black one piece (pictured above) and a black smocked bikini.  Be sure to check out their site now to find some swimsuits that are on MAJOR sale! My other favorite site for swimwear under $100 is Triangl.  I love that these bikinis are made of neoprene so they don't dig into your skin (although they do make you sweaty!) and they are all super bright & fun color combos. My sister and I have grown quite the Triangl collection over the last couple of summers.

2. Don't forget your beach day essentials: a beach bag, flip flops, some magazines, sunglasses & of course, sunscreen.  (Can you tell I'm a huge fan of Ray Ban aviators?  I think they are so classic & they look great on so many face shapes!) When it comes to sunscreen, I am a loyal fan of Sun Bum products & Vita Liberata products.  Both are gentle on my skin, provide amazing protection from sunburn & smell great!

3. Post Beach Outfits - The fun thing about these beach weekends is how casual and laid back they are.  My family loves to have happy hours on the deck and to BBQ for dinner, so denim shorts and colorful tops are great for these occasions.  Another great option that can be worn from the beach straight to dinner is a maxi dress! I tend to look for pieces that are bright colored or printed for these weekends, since I often opt for simple flat sandals and minimal jewelry. I also always bring along my denim jacket since the temps tend to drop a bit at night when you're near the water.
4.  Hair & Make Up Tips - While I usually let my hair do it's natural thing on the weekends, it always seems to need a bit of a touch up around my hairline.  This ghd straightener is perfect for touching up my hair and taming flyaways after a windy day at the beach.  Plus, the carrying case makes it easy to travel with & can we take a second to OBSESS over the iridescent blue color from the ghd azores collection?  This piece wins the most gorgeous straightener award ;). The ghd curl spray helps bring out my hair's natural texture without weighing it down or making it feel too stiff!
I have the same mind set with make up - as natural as possible after spending a day at the beach.  I always bring water proof mascara and lip balm that contains SPF to wear to the beach and a bright lip shade, just a bit of concealer and lots of body lotion for after the beach.

Am I missing anything? :)

Michelle Paige
