adding layers to a shirt dress

I have talked in the past about how much I love shirt dresses as quick go-to outfits when you need to get dressed & look presentable in a hurry.  Wearing one on it's own all summer was great, and just because it's getting colder, doesn't mean you have to store your shirt dresses away until next year.  By switching up the styling, you can wear your shirt dresses all year round.

The simplest way to wear your shirt dress during the cold months is to add layers.  This particular look is perfect for dinner, a date night or even a holiday party.  Adding a leather jacket, scarf and tights will keep you warm, but then you are able to lose the jacket & scarf and show off the great pattern of this shirt dress

Another great idea is to remix the dress as a new piece.  By adding a pencil skirt on top of the dress, it becomes a faux feminine button down top.  This is the perfect look for a 9 to 5 work day.

Lastly, for a more casual weekend look, toss on the shirt dress over jeans and a tee shirt.  Leave it open so it looks like a duster style jacket.  This look is off duty cool with a pair of sneakers and a chunky scarf.
