There are some trends that are just not acceptable for work - sheer tops and tight dresses for example - but pair them together and suddenly you're in the clear...? Yup - that's right. Today I'm showing you one way to layer a sheer top to make the trend acceptable for all occasions.
The high-low hem, sheer panels, and loose fit of this top are so pretty & are perfect for warm weather. However, when I opened my closet, I thought 'this top is way too special to just be paired with jeans' and started thinking of different ways to style it. Of course, paired with white jeans & a pair of sandals/white sneakers this top is easy & breezy (FYI - I have already styled it this way as well).
I tried pairing my top over a dress and a lightbulb went off - the sheer panels make the perfect peekaboo for a pattern. I went to work to find the perfect dress & found this one in the back of my closet. Because of the tight fit, I rarely wear this dress, but with this top layered over it, it was perfect! The pattern on the dress even matched the apricot color of the top - a match made in fashion heaven!

If you're stumped on how to wear sheer this spring, take a page out of my book and do the unexpected. Use your sheer piece as a layering tool. Don't stick to a basic cami but rather, go for a bold print! It looks super cool peeking out from a sheer piece & also allows for a ton of creativity and options while styling ;)
Have a great weekend!

This outfit is genius. I love it. I actually own a few sheer tops and you are making me think how to wear mine over patterned dresses. The dress is stunning too. And I love the sandals. I will be sharing similar sandals in my post, tomorrow so stay tuned.
ReplyDeleteBTW, this dress would look great paired with yellow like that adorable yellow trench coat you wore in the beginning of the week for your linkup. By the way I linked up not one but two looks featuring lots of yellow. You should take a peek at them - I think you would like them. ;-)
Love your version of these sandals. You are right - they are very similar! I loved styling this sheer top in a different way! It was fun to take a fashion risk.
DeleteLove the top, it's so sweet and ladylike! The sheer blouse is the best way to draw attention to your personality and keep eyes on your outfit. Sure, its not an everyday choice, but I think women can wear it for special moments, as well as for all kinds of fancy events. I also wanted to share some ideas about sheer blouses, as I made a blog post about them, check it: http://onlywardrobe.com/womens-fashion/sheer-blouses-you-can-actually-wear-on-the-streets/ Hope you liked it.
