Hello lovely Michelle's Pa(i)ge readers! I'm Lisa from The Everyday Elevated (www.theeverydayelevated.com) and this is my first guest post blog EVER! I'm so excited that Michelle is letting me share snippets of my blog/style/life on her blog today. She is the absolute sweetest blogger, which I'm sure all of you know by now!

Quick information on me and my blog: I'm based in Sacramento, CA and I've been blogging for almost 2 years now. I blog about my quest to fill my closet with affordable pieces that are chic, stylish, adorable, quirky, and/or versatile. I also blog about my quest to fill my closest with investment pieces that don't cost an arm or leg; pieces that form the core of your wardrobe and pieces you'll want to wear for years to come. I use fashion to create, attain, and live a life that I'm happy living. My favorite quotes are "Dress for the life you want" and "If you look good, you feel good." Through dressing well, I'm motivated myself to change my morning routines so they're enjoyable, fulfilling and productive. I've also motivated myself to go chase that dream job, that dream relationship, and so forth. I'm not there yet, but I share snippets of it on my blog. I hope you'll join me in my journey and let me inspire and motivate you to chase your dream job, relationship, life as well!

Today I want to share a basic outfit I wore while running errands around town. I am a self-proclaimed girly girl, BUT lately I've been investing in both basic pieces and quality basic pieces. While perusing a ton of my favorite blogs, I realized that each one of them had core basics woven throughout their posts - basics that I was lacking in. I just want to clear up that basics do not equal boring! Rather, think of it as a blank canvas - a blank canvas to adorn with your own unique twist. For instance, the two basics (not investment basic pieces, which I'll talk about in future posts on my blog) that I'm loving in this outfit are a woven black skirt and a knotted gray tee. Each piece can obviously be worn in so many ways alone, but together they create a chic starting point for so many styling options as well. In this post, I added some black lace-up flats , funky cat-eye sunglasses, and a cross-body purse for a chic and put-together look. I can change the look all-together with the blanket scarf and brown booties, as pictured in the other outfits - and now I'm ready for apple picking, coffee dates and other fall activities. When finding a basic piece to add to your closet, I encourage you to find quality pieces that you'll want to wear for seasons to come. I also encourage you to spend a bit more on these pieces as they are the pieces that you'll wear consistently, from one outfit to the next.

Now that I've touched on my outfit, I want to really quickly provide some guest blog posting do's (for those of you who are new to guest posting and interested). Like I mentioned, this is my first guest post ever, and let me tell you, I was SO excited to work with Michelle on this guest post. When I first reached out to her about doing a guest post, I was over-the-moon excited when she agreed. It totally made my week! I felt like guest posting was a win win situation as it allowed me to work with another blogger (I adore collaborating), exposed my blog to a new audience (and vice versa), and it was fun to do (connecting with other bloggers and creative projects are two of my favorite things about blogging). Here are my three do's of guest blogging:
  1. Find bloggers you admire and reach out to them to do a guest post (Don't just find bloggers that have a huge following. Find bloggers you genuinely admire and connect with, bloggers that have great content that you enjoy reading, and bloggers who are supportive and kind)
  2. Don't worry about their following or your following (I've gotten quite a few no's, but I don't take it personally. It makes the one yes so worthwhile. Michelle has quite the following and she's been blogging for a while, but I didn't let that prevent me from reaching out to her.)
  3. And the easiest one - have fun with it! Brainstorm, set guidelines and time frames, and then enjoy the process!

I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you to Michelle and her readers for having me on here today! Have a fabulous week and if you pick up any basic closet staples, I'd love to know about them!
