Today, I am crushing one of my favorite fashion faux pas & pairing navy & black in one look.  I am such a fan of this interesting color pairing & think it looks so chic when done right.  The best part is, pairing these shades is much easier than you may think.  Read on for my TWO simple tips to pulling off this pairing!

Mix fabrics.  Since these shades are so similar, it's important to switch up the fabrics so this pairing looks intentional.  Different textures will also allow each separate piece to stand out without blending into one another. It also helps to layer them so others can see the apparent color difference of the navy & black pieces.  In this look, I paired a black leather jacket and suede booties with this navy silk dress.

Rich Shades.  Be sure when wearing these two colors together that the items you choose are rich in their particular shade.  You don't want to mix any faded navy or black pieces when pairing them because, as mentioned above, they will start to bleed into each other.  The more saturated the shade, the better.

Bonus Points: Mixing these two shades becomes even easier if you are able to snag one piece that has both colors in it!  This navy dress has a dainty black & white pattern, so the hardest part of mixing black & navy was done for me!  All I had to do was finish off the look.
