When it comes to avoiding working out, I've come up with every excuse in the books..it takes too long to see a difference, I'm too tired, I'm too busy...The list goes on and on. But this year, I've really challenged myself to try to create a steady workout routine for myself, even if it's just for 15 minutes a day. Read on for my easy tips to help yourself get motivated to get moving!
1. Make a playlist. Music with a beat always makes me want to get up and dance, so a good playlist is essential for me to start working out. Some of my favorite songs include:
Confident by Demi Lovato
Love Myself by Hailee Steinfeld
Work B*tch by Britney Spears
Shake it Off by Taylor Swift
Levels by Nick Jonas
Work This Body by Walk the Moon
Are you sensing a theme? Not only do I have the taste in music of a preteen (LOL), but I love high energy of these fun tunes. They definitely help me to keep motivated & keep moving.
2. Start with 10 minutes. Some nights after work, I think I am so exhausted that I just want to collapse into bed (& some nights, I do just that), but many times, I am able to say to myself "just 10 minutes." By the time that 10 minutes is up, my heart is pumping, my muscles are burning and I am ready for another 10 minutes. If you're feeling too tired or too busy or making up another excuse, start with a short workout & work your way up.
3. Get a good outfit. Nothing makes me feel better than going to work or on a date knowing that I look great in my outfit. Why should working out be any different? Exercising opens up a whole new genre of clothing & accessories, so treat yourself to some cool leggings and that awesome pair of sneakers. New sneakers always make me excited to start a workout. I am loving my latest pair - Skechers Burst! Demi Lovato has been seen rocking this sneaker and when I had the opportunity to pick out my own I jumped at the chance. These are the most lightweight, comfortable pair of sneakers I own (truly, it feels like I am just wearing socks), not to mention the hot pink speckled color is bright & bold.
Jacket: Champion (similar, shop activewear here) | Leggings: Forever 21 | Tee Shirt: Forever 21 | Sneakers: c/o Skechers (also loving these & these) | Sunglasses: Ray Ban | Jewelry: David Yurman

Music + cute workout gear definitely motivate to me to work out. There have been days that the ONLY reason I made it to the gym was because I had a cute new pair of workout leggings/top/sneakers to break in, ha. :)

For sure - me too! I am loving wearing these comfy sneakers lately
DeleteI love the "just 10 minutes" tip - I do that all the time and if I do happen to give up after 10 minutes I think, "Well, that 10 minutes was better than nothing!" Haha, I also love your pre-teen music choices! :)

DeleteSuper cute workout outfit! You look adorable and fit!
ReplyDeleteAll great tips! Since the start of February I've been working out 6 days a week for at least an hour a day. I credit cute workout clothes, a great playlist and a weight loss goal as motivation!
ReplyDeleteWow - that is so impressive! I'm not THAT dedicated - I wish I was!
DeleteI think I am definitely more motivated when I have stylish workout clothing. You look cute and I love those trainers. x/Madison

Great workout outfit and words of motivation. It's easy to skip a workout, but everything feels better when you don't.
ReplyDeleteYou look great as always.
Those Skechers are gorgeous and I am eyeing a pair myself, either the speckled hot pink or the marled light blue. Pretty sneakers definitely motivate me to do a work-out and Skechers is one of my favorite brands.
ReplyDeleteJust so you know all the wording is showing up weird in this post: just an "8" for a title and a few scattered letters here and there.
They are the best! Most comfortable pair of sneakers I own - hands down!
DeleteNot sure why this is happening for you - I will be sure to look into it.
