I received this message a couple of weeks ago--

"You should do a post on what to wear to a destination wedding when you can't find summery dresses in stores in the middle of fall. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything...       because it's seriously so stressful! Everything is black!!!"

For those of you traveling away from the cold weather this season:
1. I am jealous!
2. I agree, shopping for attire for warm locations can be tough when areas, like NY, are freezing & stores are filled with scarves & sweaters.

I've come up with a few ideas for destination wedding wear:

CASUAL: If the wedding is casual or takes place during the day, grab a colorful maxi dress (maybe one that you already own) & dress it up with accessories.  A dressy shoe & a sparkly clutch can drastically change the look of a daytime dress.  In this case, you have the opportunity to use your hairstyle & makeup as accessories too.  A bold lip or a playful braid is the perfect compliment to this look.

SEMI FORMAL: A cocktail dress is more appropriate for this case.  Opposed to the dark colors that are popular during the fall, pastel and bright colored dressed are perfect for tropical destinations.  Below are a few of my favorite options.  Hair & makeup should be classic, simple & clean.

FORMAL:  For a formal occasion, I think a dark colored dress is no-fail no matter the location or time of year.  A classic black or navy gown can be worn in so many ways. You can add a bit of drama to your look with an up-do hairstyle, bold makeup or statement accessories.

FOR ANY OCCASION: If you are still having a hard time finding that perfect dress, RENT one! Rent The Runway has a TON of dresses & accessories that can be rented for a special occasion!
