We've all had those times - you shrunk your favorite dress in the wash, or worse, you order a new dress online and it ends up being too short! To be fair, I knew this dress was going to be shorter than I prefer my dresses when I ordered it but I went for it anyway. I loved the print & colors for the beginning of fall. When the dress arrived it was slightly too short as I thought but through the years of ordering incorrectly or shrinking my clothes, I've learned a great trick to make use of dresses that are too short!
Jeans: Abercrombie & Fitch (step hem is DIY) | Bag: Tory Burch | Booties: Vince Camuto | Sunglasses: Ray Ban
As I did in this outfit, simply knot a corner of the fabric to shorten it even more. This made my dress look more like a tunic or top than a 'too short dress' making it perfect to pair with jeans. Another option is to leave the dress as is and add leggings underneath. This will give you the same effect as a pair of tights but will allow for slightly more coverage! Either way, don't toss those shrunken dresses just because they are slightly short. There are ways to wear them!

It's so great for now & will be great in the fall as well!
DeleteThat outfit is so cute! That is a good idea on how to wear a dress that's too short. Good way to be creative. http://sugarcoatedbears.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI love wearing short dress as if it were an over legging. It's a really cool idea to avoid something that gets immodest and undermines my fashionable Christian principles. I liked the post. That's just it.

The hem was a DIY - it was so easy!!
DeleteI recently brought a dress and felt really good in it (struggling after being pregnant) and I shrunk it after one wear! Absolutely gutted!! So this is a great plan! Thanks.
